Bernardino Luini
(Milanese: ca. 1480/85-1532)
St. Sebastian, ca. 1512
Oil on panel: 41 1/4 x 17 inches
The classical composure and facial features of St. Sebastian reflect the influence of Leonardo da Vinci and Raphael, whose works Luini would have known in the course of a hypothetical visit to Rome. Three other representations of saints by Luini in a private collection also formed part of the same, so far undocumented altarpiece. |
